What Kind Of Sweeteners Are Considered Paleo?
I’ve really been into Paleo dishes lately. Now I do not follow 100% thats for sure, like I mentioned before. I mainly love Paleo dishes because I feel like I can eat desserts, still in moderation of course!
Whenever I make something my family always jokes around and says, “Is this Paleo?” I like to use Stevia in dishes, and this sweetener is supposed to be used in moderation according to Paleo, but raw unprocessed honey is acceptable too. If I can get away with out using sweetener at all, like in my tea I will try to do that..but in baking I think a little sweetness is needed.
“Just Like Sugar Table Top – Natural Chicory root fiber” is an accepted Paleo sweetener also but I have never seen or heard of it until now. You can buy it on Amazon or Vitacost. I really want to check it out!
For sweetness is this bread I’m about to tell you about, I used 1 tbsp honey, and 2 drops liquid Stevia.
I made this bread on Wednesday and It was gone by today!
Paleo Zucchini Banana Bread (Adapted from Live Love Train)
- 1 1/2 cups almond flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup grated zucchini water squeezed out
- 3 eggs
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 1 banana mashed
- 1 tbsp coconut oil melted
- Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees
- Spray Loaf Pan with Non Stick Cooking Spray (coconut oil if you have it)
- Mix all dry ingredients in a small bowl and wet in another medium sized bowl.
- Add your dry to your wet and make sure all your ingredients are nicely incorporated.
- Pour batter into loaf pan and bake for about 35-40 minutes, Until a toothpick comes out clean.
** Almond flour absorbs moisture more than normal flour- therefor squeezing out the excess liquid from the zucchini is essential. Baking times may vary.
A lot of whole wheat recipes can be made Paleo by using almond flour instead of whole wheat flour but A cup of almond flour also differs significantly in weight from a cup of wheat flour. It is not a complete 1:1 Ratio. Don’t get me wrong I still like using whole wheat flour in some recipes.

Top with Coconut Butter, Almond Butter, or whatever your heart desires. Or enjoy simply plain- delicious!
